What Are Eyebags? Diagram

Steps to restore a book. Surprise chocolate

Many people are curious to know how to restore a book, and although I believe that to do so under conditions requires knowledge of binding, I'll put some steps that can help someone to decide do so.
is a book that belonged to my uncle Trino, who died in the Civil War and used it to their classes in teacher in a small village called La Marquesa Alicante. Restoring intend to remain as useful as it was in his time and that no treaty spelling has surpassed Podadera Miranda. Is a seventh edition.

was in very poor condition and continued the procedure for binding sheets.
first thing I did was carefully drop leaf by leaf, with the help of a spear that got rid of the tail could stay, and who had some broken, the "patched" with a tissue.

As the first was very broken, with the help of Fhotoshop made a new one page and soaked up with cotton wool soaked in coffee to match the tone of the paper.

When all the leaves were already restored (obviously not all have the same arrangement), I put together, and gave glue to the spine. Before estuvira completely dry (the paper was very old and had to take care) separating groups of leaves was more or less than ten by ten, and back together, but this time I gave them no tail. By the way, if binding tail, which is more elastic.

using a strip of cardboard in front and another behind the book, matching up the edges and put it to the press. We did four saws, first to 2.5 centimeters, and the other two focused, something more profound to happen while the rope.

I took it out of the press and I asked each group of sheets with punch holes on both sides of the zippers ensuring that coincide in all vertical holes, and sewed it on the loom dogtooth, crossing the wires well, holding the string. First a booklet, then the next stitch to the first, and so on. Very careful with all the signatures are on the right.

Cut the strings, leaving about 2.5 inches or less and get back to the press. We pulled the strings well, we glue and let dry in the press. We do the guards will be attached to the tops, as long as the leaves of the book, but twice as wide, and stick by bending the edge of the spine. This time I used the same paper covers, but was white and below, we also have given coffee to match the tone of the leaves. Seen in the last photo.
If we cut the edges so that we stay like new, now would be the time to put it into print, if you do not have the right machine. I have not cut because I preferred to keep it as found.

Open the piece of string and paste it to the guard. We hit the tarlatan (only the spine), the tape head and bellows on the back. We already have the body of the book.

We covers with cardboard, paper and cloth binding. The center board is thinner and the width will be the spine of book, while the long, add 6 mm sheets. The covers also 6 mm longer than the book, and the same as wide as the leaves, because after the back, there 6mm on each side of fabric, and is sufficient to protrude slightly. First hit the central part of the fabric, and then mounted on the same paper. Tuck everything right.

With heavy tail, we glue the back (look who is on the right), and secure it while drying. Then we put a paper under the guard that will be attached to the lid, and glue, always diagonal. We dropped the lid, holding it the back of the book, so it will not be saved and can be cut to cover the game well. Aided by a cloth, we can take some small wrinkle that we have been. We took that role and put another clean. We like each other, and let the two roles positions them to pick up moisture from the tail and not the book. Mark well the hole where the fabric was next to the back and put a crimp. Should be left out and put the weight back to what are the caps.

Well, as the book is finished. I have opened a bit so you can see that the guards are not white due to coffee.
With Fhotoshop did a cover and the small at the top.
I hope you like it and I can ever / rear useful.

If someone does not want to entertain in sewing or do not have the right tools, you can also put the entire block very well set out in the press ma leaving about five inches from the back. They take all the fan-shaped leaves to one side, ... glue (in this case comes a little tail to the leaves, so that they stick to each other) and then carried to the other side to have queued for two. It was removed from the press, and trying not to break apart a lot, on paper we dropped several times the book with the spine down, as when we take a lot of pages and we put together well. Blows. It puts weight on the block, and the following are the saw without sewing them put the pieces of string, in this case also at the edges, we put in the press, gluing, making sure that the string hole is fully impregnated with glue, we give all the back and let dry in the press. The rest is the same.
